Revision 18 released (unstable)

I've just released LFScript 4 revision 18.

Changelog

  • Upgraded to LFS 9708.
  • Upgraded to BLFS 9178. This also allowed me to remove a temporary directory with scripts which where not up to date yet.
  • Started work on restoring the Gnome scripts. This will probably be completed with next revision.
  • livekernel: Upgraded to Linux 3.2 (same kernel as the one used in LFS).
  • Created new kernel configuration files in the 'fsos' directory for Linux 3.2.
  • bootscripts: Moved configuration from post-installation to installation.
  • lfscript: Made the population of the fake root directory (filesystem directories and symlinks to directories) independent of LFS.

Revision 17 released (unstable)

This revision contains the ScriptFactoryII upgrade, and therefore also scripts for recent versions of LFS and BLFS.

- LFS r9706
- BLFS r9174 (only Xorg and dependencies)

This revision is known to work without issues, but does not yet include Gnome, KDE and several other scripts that are in revision 12. Therefore it is still marked unstable.

New revision delayed

I've decided to delay the release of a next revision for a couple of days for two reasons:

1. I found and resolved a bug in how LFScript detects script errors. I want to make sure this problem is truly fixed before release.

2. I've already adapted ScriptFactoryII to handle BLFS and I'm in the process of bringing the Xorg scripts up to date. They will probably be ready in a couple of hours, so I'd like to include them in next release too.

Happy New Year

First of all: Happy New Year Everyone!

After some time off for the holidays, I will start releasing new revisions of LFScript on a weekly basis again (the first on the 8th of January).

You might also be happy to know that I've just finished working on a new version of the application which automatically extracts the commands from LFS and creates scripts out of them (ScriptFactory). This means that starting with next release, the LFS scripts will always be up to date again.

It also means that I'll be able to spend my time on upgrading the BLFS scripts, and work towards a new stable version of LFScript.
